We're
on a mission from God.
The primary purpose of this site
is to list and present all of Fr. Richard Simon's radio appearances as
a guest expert on various programs that are broadcast on the The
Relevant Radio Network.
The secondary purpose is to eventually
edit said programs down to individual Q&As (questions & answers)
similar to Fr. Simon's weekly advice column "The
Reverend Know-It-All" in which he answers readers' questions about
God, religion and the Roman Catholic Church.
The tertiary purpose is to provide
the listener/reader with a bit of tongue in cheek humor that Fr. Simon
is somewhat renowned for.
In brief, Fr. Simon has virtually nothing
to do with this web site. It's just a compilation of what he has
said on the Relevant Radio Network. All told, he is responsible to
God, the pope and his bishop (who is Cardinal George of the Archdiocese
of Chicago) for what he said. But, he is not directly responsible
for anything on this web site.
The only involvement that Fr. Simon has
had with this site is when he answered our inquiry as to what some of his
favorite songs were - both contemporary tunes and religious hymns: the
Blues Brothers' version of "Soul Man" and the Gregorian chant "Ave Mundi
Spes Maria" by the Benedictine Monks of Santo Domingo de Silos.
Special
Thanks - God Bless Them
We would like to thank both Fr. Simon and
all the great people at the Relevant Radio Network, a listener supported
Roman Catholic radio network. As Mother Angelica of EWTN might say,
"Please
remember Relevant Radio between the gas and electric bills to
keep them on the air waves."
In particular, we deeply appreciate that
Mr. Mike Kendall, the Chief Programming Officer of the Relevant Radio Network,
has granted us permission to use in whole and/or in part any/all audio
tapes from Relevant Radio that feature Fr. Simon, including those shows
from the "Morning Air" and "Searching The Word" and "The Drew Mariani Show"
programs for our non-commercial use only.
We also sincerely thank Mr. Dan Aykroyd
who has granted us permission to use about the last 40 seconds of the Blues
Brothers recording of "Soul Man" for the video's beginning credits as well
as The Benedictine Monks of Santo Domingo de Silos have granted us permission
to use about the first 2 minutes of the 4+ minute long recording of "Ave
Mundi Spes Maria" (from their 1995 album Chant II) for the closing credits.
Lastly, we highly suspect (and are therefore
thankful to) the Holy Spirit and the Blessed Virgin Mary for their "behind
the scene" involvement in getting Fr. Simon on air a couple of times a
month as well as for keeping him on a straight and narrow path.
More
Videos Coming Soon!
We are in the process of editing the audio
tapes and converting them into videos. We will post them as we complete
them. A list of the original unedited programs from Relevant Radio
is presented above.
